Haven \ Childhood Trauma Awareness

Overview

Children are unaware of the negative effects of stressors on their mental and emotional growth. The community’s lack of awareness and education on the topic makes it impossible for children to find the support they need. From this we concluded that we need to improve education and awareness in Philadelphia education systems.

An infinite scroll digital experience highlights resources and shopping for the Haven Kit.

(Top) The children’s poster teaches children about their brain and why they might be feeling the way they do.
A poster depicts a situation where the character uses what they learned from the program.

(Bottom) The guardian poster is a call to action for children who suffer from adverse traumas. Explaining how guardians can help, why they should help, and when they should intervene. Haven’s feeling descriptions are shown
on a poster for motivation and inspiration to stay motivated.

Sample workbook spreads that explain feelings through characters and teach coping strategies to children.

Approach

– 2 week research and design phase
By conducting 2 weeks of topic and behavioral interviews we developed a system map to explain our design process and business model for users to understand.

– 6 week design phase
We then worked to create a cohesive design system consisting of branding, a website, a workbook, informational posters, brochures, and play therapy toys.
